When crews from Engine 6 arrived on scene, they found a small fire on the exterior of a unit being doused with a water hose by police and bystanders, authorities said.

The fire was contained to the exterior of the building and no residents were displaced, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

Damage was estimated at $1,000 and the cause was ruled accidental, said Mainaga.
