According to Maui County Paramedics Association spokesperson, Ryan Joslin, the woman had been pulled from the bottom of the pool by an on duty Hotel Security responder and her husband, after she was submerged for approximately three minutes.

The security guard initiated CPR and was assisted by other hotel employees until the medic unit and assisting fire fighters from Lahaina were able to arrive on scene, Joslin said.

According to incident reports, the medic unit found the female in an improved condition upon arrival, but in critical respiratory distress.
