State Tax Director to Speak at Year-End Tax Workshop
By Sonia Isotov
The state Department of Taxation’s 2012 Year-End Tax Workshop will be held on Maui on December 4 at the UH Maui College campus.
“These workshops, especially in the lead-up to the January through April filing season, provide an opportunity for the department and our local tax professionals to get on the same page,” said Director of Taxation Fred Pablo.
“Tax preparers are then better able to file accurate and timely returns for their clients, and to work with our staff to resolve any problems.”
Director of Taxation Fred Pablo and other speakers will update attendees on various administrative issues including tax form changes, modernized e-filing, the transient accommodations tax, and the status of state tax litigation.
Also on the agenda are presentations on the just-released temporary administrative rules regarding the renewable energy technologies income tax credit, and recommendations under discussion by the Tax Review Commission.
All workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. (check-in begins at 8 a.m.). The registration fee is $80 for persons registering at least one week prior to the selected workshop, and $100 for those registering after that.
A continental breakfast, workshop materials, and four hours of Hawai‘i Board of Public Accountancy Continuing Professional Education credit are included. Workshop materials may be separately purchased for $25 per set.
The Maui workshop will be held on the UH Maui College Pilina Building in the Multi-Purpose Room. For more information and to register, call (808) 984-3231.
