South Maui Home Fire Causes $9,800 Damage

A home fire in South Maui on Saturday morning caused an estimated $9,800 in damage.

The incident was reported at 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at a residence located at 3258 Waileia Place.

Upon arrival at 7:27 a.m., crews from Engine 14 found smoke coming from the front of the home.

Firefighters from Engine 14 were joined by crews from Ladder 14 and Engine 6.  Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said firefighters entered the home to search the residence and control the fire.

The fire was called under control at 7:33 a.m., and extinguished at 8:42 a.m.

Mainaga said the fire was confined to the kitchen area and the cause was determined to be accidental.

No one living at this residence was injured, and no one was displaced from the home, fire officials said.
