A book of condolences will be compiled by the County of Maui’s Office of the Mayor to honor the late US Senator Daniel K. Inouye.

The public is invited to express their appreciation for the senator, and extend their sympathies to his family through the book. It will be available in the front lobby of the mayor’s office on the 9th floor of the Kalana O Maui Building in Wailuku on Thursday and Friday, Dece. 27 and 28.

The book will then be presented to Inouye’s family on Saturday, during a memorial service at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center at 9 a.m.

For those residents who are unable to attend the ceremony, Mayor Alan Arakawa invites them to stop by and express their condolences in the book.

“The late Senator Inouye was a tremendous supporter and cared deeply about our community. He was a friend to us all,” said Mayor Arakawa. “This book of condolences is just one small way that we can express our gratitude to such a great man.”
