The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch beginning Tuesday night, March 26, and continuing until Wednesday evening, March 27, for the islands of Oahu, Kauai and Niihau.
Forecasters with the NWS say the Watch status is due to an upper trough that is expected to pass over the state, bringing the possibility of heavy showers, thunderstorms and flash flooding.
Exact timing of the wet weather is uncertain, but officials from the agency say intense rainfall rates are possible, especially over the slopes of affected islands.
The agency advises the public to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should a Flash Flood Warning be issued.
