The Landmark Hotels Group indicated in a news report today that they will be temporarily closing the Makena Golf Course for a multi-million dollar improvement.

Shawn Sweeney, the president of The Landmark Hotels Group, said in an announcement that the 18-hole course will be closing on March 31. He expects it to re-open in the first quarter of 2014.

Plans include for design elements to be true to the natural beauty of Makena, with its kiawe forest, indigenous trees, ancient rock formations, and natural streams.

Sweeney also announced that the Cafe on The Green restaurant will remain open daily for lunch, afternoon snacks and early dinner throughout the golf course transformation.
