A&B Assists Carden Academy in Purchasing Campus Property

Due in part to a recent $20,000 contribution from Alexander and Baldwin, Carden Academy of Maui has purchased its 2.1-acre campus, according to an announcement by a school spokesperson Monday.
“We are grateful for A&B’s support of our community and appreciate this generous gift to our school,” said Nina Sato, director of Carden Academy, a K-8 private grade school located Pukalani, in a media statement Monday.
“Owning our campus allows us to make long term improvements to our campus,” said Alan Battersby, the board president of Carden Academy.
He went on to explain that the financing of the purchase was arranged by First Hawaiian Bank and include improvements to the property perimeter fence, paved parking lot, new basketball court, and a remodeled enrichment studio/multi-purpose room.
“Carden continues to fundraise for both this capital purchase and to support our ongoing operating needs,” said Sato. “Once the capital campaign goal is achieved, and the campus is owned debt-free, the school’s board of directors has committed to a generous $100,000 tuition assistance program annually.”
