Hāna Library in East Maui will close temporarily for a scheduled re-roofing and air-conditioner replacement project this summer.

Officials with the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System advise that the closure will begin on Friday, June 21, with an announcement planned at a later date to advise the public on when the library will reopen.

In the interim, the book drop will remain open for the duration. Library book renewal and a variety of other services are available online at

According to the bid notice that was issued late last year, the estimated construction cost of the project was placed at between $250,000 and $500,000.
