Senate Water and Land Committee Chair Malama Solomon will conduct site visits on the islands of Maui and Lāna‘i from Wednesday to Friday this week, Sept. 18 to 20.
During her visit, Sen. Solomon will receive updates from the Department of Land and Natural Resources on various projects, programs and concerns.
“I applaud the Department of Land and Natural Resources for organizing these informative site visits and look forward to learning more about their work on the islands of Maui and Lāna‘i,” said Sen. Solomon in a media statement.
“Through working collaboratively with the department we will be able to better define and address the needs of all of our islands,” she said.
Scheduled stops on Wednesday, Sept. 18 through Friday Sept. 20 include visits to a koa forest watershed project, the ʻĪao Valley State Monument, and Līpoa Point on Maui.
The senator will also visit with personnel operating the DOCARE enforcement boat during this period. Site visits also include stops at Lahaina Harbor, Mānele Bay Small Boat Harbor, and a watershed on Lāna‘i.
Legislative officials say fellow Senator Gilbert Kahele, who chairs the Tourism Committee, will also join the group.
