Kalama Skate Park and Kokua Pool Closures Announced
By Maui Now Staff
The Department of Parks and Recreation announced the planned closure of Kalama Skate Park in South Maui for emergency repairs from Nov. 5 to 22; and the two-day closure of the Kokua Pool in Central for treatment from Nov. 10 to 20.
The Kalama Skate Park closure is to facilitate repairs to vertical ramps, safety railings and support structures.
County officials say some portions of the skate park will also be painted to cover graffiti.
Questions on the skate park repairs may be directed to the South Maui Parks Office at (808) 879-4364.
The Aquatics Division also announced a two-day closure of Kokua Pool in Kahului to facilitate the chemical treatment, scrubbing and re-balancing of pool water.
Following the closure, the pool will reopen for regular hours, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Questions regarding the pool closure may be directed to Duke Sevilla at (808) 270-6135.
The department thanked the public for their patience during these repairs to address safety concerns and maintenance issues.
Earlier this month, county officials also announced the temporary closure of Waiheʻe Beach Park for about a month, beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 12, to accommodate restroom and park renovations.
