Kamehameha Schools Maui senior Madison Vaught signed a letter of intent Tuesday to attend the University of Buffalo next fall.
Vaught officially accepted an athletic scholarship to play softball for the Bulls at an informal press conference at the Kamehameha Schools Maui campus. Madison’s parents, Melinda and Mark, were present to witness the signing as well as her sister Mallorie, athletic director Blane Gaison and other school administrators.
Vaught, a second-team Maui Interscholastic League all-star last season, joins a Buffalo team that welcomes 13 players back from last year’s team that finished 14-31 overall and 4-17 in the Mid-American Conference.
According to the school, Vaught is the first KS-Maui student-athlete to sign a Division I softball scholarship.
