A staffing shortage resulted in missed trash pickup in some areas of Central Maui today, county officials announced.

Affected areas included Waiehu Heights, Oceanview Estates, Kahekili Highway, Halewaiū Road, Pakakū Place, Kaihamu Place, and all of the Waiehu Kou subdivisions.

Officials with the County of Maui Solid Waste Division apologized for the inconvenience and said resumption of trash pickup in the area is expected to resume on Tuesday.
