The proposed shoreline protection extension of the Wailuku-Kahului Wastewater Reclamation Facility will be the subject of a public hearing scheduled for January 14.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will accept testimony on the Conservation District Use Application for the facility, which is partially located on submerged land offshore.

A final Environmental Impact Statement for the project was published on May 8, 2013.

Copies of the Conservation District Use Application are available for inspection at the Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands in Honolulu, at the Kahului State Library, and at the DLNR-Maui District Land Office located on High Street in Wailuku.

The public hearing is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Lihikai Elementary School Cafeteria in Kahului.
