Maui Electric Aerial Inspections Māʻalaea to Kīhei, Feb. 18

Maui Electric Company will be using a helicopter to perform routine power line inspections from Māʻalaea to Kīhei on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to a company announcement.

The work is weather permitting and includes aerial inspections of electrical lines, poles and substations.

The helicopter route will include the Maui Electric Māʻalaea Generating Station on North Kīhei Road, parts of Mokulele Highway and surrounding neighborhoods makai of the Pi‘ilani Highway to the Kīhei substation on East Welakahao Road.

Company representatives say the inspections are routine and are necessary to maintain reliable electrical service for the Maui community.
