The Kīhei Youth Center is the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Sarofim Realty Advisors, Texan owners of the Piʻilani Promenade project in Kihei.
Charlie Jencks, a resident involved with many developments on Maui and acting as owner’s representative for Sarofim, presented the check to Lehuanani Huddleston-Hafoka, executive director of the Kīhei Youth Center during a check presentation on Tuesday.
The money will be matched with other donations, and will be used to support educational programs including financial literacy, cultural, and Hawaiian language programs at the center, according to an announcement.
In accepting the donation, Huddleston-Hafoka said the Kīhei Youth Center has been able to serve the youth of South Maui for more than 30 years because of the support they have enjoyed from the community.
Today the Kīhei Youth Center has more than 600 registered youth members, between the ages of 8 and 17 years of age.
Sarofim Realty Advisors is proposing the development of the Piʻilani Promenade, a mixed-use light industrial and commercial/business project at a site located mauka of the Piʻilani Highway in the vicinity of the Kaʻonoʻulu Street intersection, across from the Ka ʻOno ʻUlu Estates.
