Maui Police Promote Kiyota to Captain

The Maui Police Department publicly announced the promotion today of Sterling Kiyota to the rank of Captain, effective March 16, 2014.
In his new capacity as Captain, Kiyota will be assigned as the Commander of the Molokaʻi Patrol District.
According to Police, Kiyota is a 26 year veteran of the department, starting his career in November 1987 with his first assignment at the Wailuku Patrol Division.
Other career highlights include:
- 1992: transferred to the Vice Division, Gambling and Morals Unit, as an investigator;
- 1995: promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Receiving Desk, then transferred to the Wailuku Patrol Division;
- 2002: transferred to the Vice Division, Gambling and Morals Unit;
- 2011: promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Wailuku Patrol Division and later transferred to Kīhei Patrol Division.
Captain Kiyota is married with three daughters and two grandchildren.
Earlier this week, the Maui Police Department announced the promotion of three individuals from the rank of sergeant to lieutenant. The promotions of Scott Louis, Mark MK Vickers, and Jerald Perkett took effect on Feb. 16, 2014.
