2014 Graduation Dates Released for Public, Charter Schools

An estimated 11,000 students from more than 60 schools will be graduating from public and charter schools across the state in May.

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education released a list of graduation dates for 2014 with the schedule set to start in late May.

Here on Maui, the first graduation ceremony will be for students at King Kekaulike High School at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at the School Stadium.

The Maui events wrap up with a graduation for Lahainaluna High School on Sunday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the School’s Boarders’ Field.

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is the ninth-largest school district in the US and is comprised of 255 schools and 33 charter schools, serving more than 185,000 students, according to department officials.

DOE officials say King Kamehameha III established Hawaiʻi’s public school system in 1840.
