Andaz Maui Named to Conde Nast Traveler’s 2014 Hot List
By Wendy Osher
The Andaz Maui at Wailea was named to Condé Nast Traveler’s 18th annual Hot List, which is touted as a guide to the best new hotels and resorts in the world.
The guide included an elite list of just 33 new hotels out of more than 500 that were considered.
Criteria included sense of place, personality, and intuition “where it feels like your needs are considered before you know what they are.”
The 297 room resort in South Maui was among only five properties that made the category for Best Beach Hotels of 2014.
The Andaz was the only Hawaiʻi property included in both the category and the overall list.
The review described the hotel as one where you “can gaze out at a star-filled sky and dream up the next day’s plans.”
In addition to the Beach category, other categories on the Hot List were: Design, Food, Family, Bargain, Over-the-Top, and Way-Out-There Hotels.
“We are honored by and grateful to have received this distinction,” said Michael Stephens, general manager for Andaz Maui at Wailea in a press release. “We are dedicated to providing our guests with a memorable Maui experience, and to have our outstanding staff, unparalleled beachfront location and unique programming acknowledged in this way is so rewarding,” he said.
According to information released by the resort, guests at the Andaz property enjoy “unparalleled views” of Wailea’s Mōkapu Beach, a “hassle free” check in experience, complimentary internet access, local phone calls, non-alcoholic beverages, and locally-sourced snacks that are replenished daily.
Culinary options at the resort include the Kaʻana Kitchen, Morimoto Maui, the Bumbye Beach Bar, and the Lehua Lounge. The property also features the 14,000-square-foot `Āwili Spa and Salon.
The Hot List is included in the May issue of Condé Nast Traveler, which hits newsstands on April 29, 2014.
