Registration Now Open for Teacher Workshop at Haleakalā

Teachers for students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade and informal educators are invited to participate in a free one-day workshop at Haleakalā National Park.
The workshop will featured Maui-based curriculum with an emphasis on Hō‘ike o Haleakalā.
The workshop will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, in the Summit District.
The workshop will include a ranger-led hike through Hosmer Grove, with activities to help teachers better understand the island’s native ecosystems and species, as well as challenges faced in protecting them.
Activities will be led by facilitators from the National Park Service and the Maui Invasive Species Committee.
Lunch, snacks, and supplies will be provided by Hawai‘i Pacific Parks Association, a non-profit partner of Haleakalā National Park.

Registration closes on Aug. 1, 2014, and space is limited to 20 participants.
A $20 fee will be collected at the time of registration, but will be refunded upon completion of the workshop.
