Maui’s Nā Pua Kō Softball Team Wins Mainland Tournament

Maui’s Nā Pua Kō girls fast-pitch softball team from Maui took home the All Star Tournaments 12-and-Under Silver Division title at the Champions 2014 USSSA PRIDE Tournament held over the weekend in Sacramento, California.
The team from Central Maui was among 16 teams that made it to the final elimination round, played on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, 2014.
The Maui team advanced to the semifinal round after an 8-8 tie against the LGCS Magic; a 3-2 loss against the CenCal Angels; a 12-2 win over the Ripon Rampage Deanda; and a 13-1 win over the Atwater Blaze.
The Maui girls then advanced to the finals after defeating the Fremont SWAT 7-4, and took home the title after an 11-4 win over the Ripon Rampage Deanda in the title game.
The mainland tournament win comes after a state title victory at the Amateur Softball Association Hawaiʻi State 12 and Under Championships held on Oʻahu earlier this month.
Team members include: #15 Soraya Casco, #12 Haley Gomes, #72 Nohili Hong, #5 Cynthia Jimenez, #11 Tajah Kuloloia, #7 Taylor Nobriga, #6 Melia Paet, #4 Erin Prieto, #9 Kylenna Rieta, #2 Brie Shiozuki, #16 Dayna Siangco, #8 Jordyn Vierra, and #10 Jaden Viloria.
