The Molokaʻi Landfill will be partially closed next week due to insufficient manpower, according to an announcement today by the County of Maui Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division.

The partial closure means the facility will close early at 1 p.m. instead of the usual 2:30 p.m. time.

This reduced schedule will be in effect from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11.

County officials say the change in schedule is necessary to ensure the safe operation of the facility, and to meet minimum operating requirements of its solid waste permit as outlined by the state Department of Health.

Officials with the Solid Waste Division apologized for the inconvenience.
