The zombie apocalypse awakens this Saturday, Oct. 4, with a new Morey Monster Challenge Zombie Run and a return of the Haunted Hayride Zombie Shoot at the Maui Paintball course in Olowalu.

Last year the Haunted Hayride event sold out in just two weeks.  When organizers added an additional day in 2013, it too sold out in just four hours.

This year, venue proprietor, Clint Hansen said tickets are again a hot item, with space still available for both run and shoot courses.

Morey Monster Challenge – Zombie Run

The Morey Monster Challenge Zombie Run is a one mile obstacle course that features a blood pit, spider climb, tunnel of darkness and zombie forest.

As runners traverse mud pits, tree forts, burning cars, and towers, they encounter a course complete with monsters, ghouls and zombies.

The goal is to get through the course without the zombies grabbing all of your game flags, and avoid triage with other “infected” victims.

The monster run offered from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday’s and Sundays this month, and is restricted to a limited number of participants per day.  Pre-registration ensures you a spot along with $10 off the cost of admission.  Tickets are $30 online and $40 for same day admission.

The course was created by Morey, Inc. in conjunction with Maui Paintball, with a portion of revenues going to support Imua Family Services.

Haunted Hayride – Zombie Shoot

As night falls on West Maui, the haunted hayride departs into the zombie forest at Olowalu.

Help to eliminate the monsters of the night by firing glow-in-the-dark paintballs at them from the back of a ZERT, short for Zombie Emergency Response Truck.

With 350 rounds of 50 caliber ammo, you can light up the night and rid the ranch of ravenous creatures.  Cost is $39 for the first 350 rounds, and an additional $10 per 100 shots.

The Haunted Hayride Zombie Shoot runs every Friday and Saturday in October from 6:45  to 11 p.m.  If you’re planning to do both Monster Challenge Zombie Run and the Haunted Hayride Zombie Shoot, be sure to schedule for Saturday.
