Kansas Man Dies After Being Pulled From Waters at Keawakapu

Rescue crews were unable to revive a man who was pulled from the water at Keawakapu Beach in South Maui on Wednesday afternoon.

Maui police have since identified the man as Michael R. Higgins, 57, of Lenexa, Kansas.

According to police reports, the man was found unresponsive while in the ocean at around 12:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014.

Officials say CPR was administered at the scene, but the man died after being transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say the cause of death has not been determined and is pending autopsy results.
