A brown water advisory has been issued for Honokahua and Honolua Bay in West Maui due to heavy rains.
This area includes DT Fleming Beach Park, Kahauiki Gulch and Makaluapuna Point in Kapalua.
Officials with the state Department of Health issued the advisory on Tuesday, March 4, 2015.
The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff.
The conditions can be hazardous due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris.
If coastal waters are turbid and brown, the department advises the public to stay out.
