Colin Farrell will be the 2015 Maui Film Festival Navigator Award recipient at the 16th annual event scheduled from June 3 though 7 at the Wailea Resort in Maui.

In today’s announcement, Barry Rivers, founder and director of the festival, said the The Maui Film Festival Navigator Award “honors a film artist for carving a path of distinction through the turbulent waters of the entertainment industry without sacrificing their fundamental commitment to excellence.”

The award will be presented at the Celestial Cinema located at the Wailea Gold & Emerald Golf Course on June 4.

“Colin Farrell is a chameleon who constantly creates one-of-a-kind characters that send pitch perfect pebble-to-boulder-sized ripples through whatever story his performance is helping to tell,” said Rivers. “In short, Colin is a cinematic force of nature and, for that reason, the Maui Film Festival takes great pride in honoring him with its 2015 Navigator Award.”

Farrell was in the recent film adaptation of “Miss Julie,” directed by Liv Ullmann, starring opposite Jessica Chastain. In 201, Farrell appeared in the Disney film “Saving Mr. Banks” with Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. In 2009, Farrell earned a Golden Globe for his role in “In Bruges.”

Farrell is now shooting the second season of the HBO drama “True Detective,” starring opposite Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughan. He recently finished an independent film, “The Lobster,” starring opposite Rachel Weisz.
