Maui police closed a section of road in Makawao overnight to investigate a report of a suspected improvised explosive device within a property at Ahuwale Road at around 4:06 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

A 100 meter section of road was cordoned off and two homes were evacuated during the incident.

Police initiated the road closure at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and had all roads reopened by 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015.

Police had sought the help of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to remove and properly dispose of any device found.  Police say EOD personnel rendered the device safe at 10:57 p.m. on Wednesday.

No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of the incident.
