T.J. Maxx is set to hold the grand opening of its Valley Isle location in Maui Mall on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015.

Members of the media and other guests were invited to a sneak peek preview of the new store on Wednesday, Aug. 5 (see slideshow below). 

The 20-minute grand opening program beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday is expected to include Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa, the T.J. Maxx manager and a spokesperson from Alberta Development Partners, the owners of the mall.

At the ceremony, T.J. Maxx will also present a check to Women Helping Women, which provides emergency shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence.

The doors will open to shoppers at 8 a.m.

    The 26,000-square-foot national retailer, which sells designer brands and household items at discount prices, has been described as an upscale Ross Dress for Less, which is located at 70 East Ka‘ahumanu Ave. in Kahului, across Kamehameha Street in the Safeway shopping plaza.
