The Kiwanis Club of Kahului announced today that Deidre Tegarden will be the guest speaker at its upcoming general membership meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015.  The luncheon meeting, open to the general public, begins at noon at Tante’s Island Cuisine in Kahului. Lunch is available for purchase off the menu.

Tegarden will talk about the importance of protocol in the 21st century.

She has served as chief of protocol for Gov. David Y. Ige and Gov. Neil Abercrombie, working on behalf of the state with Nobel Peace Prize recipient Aung San Suu Kyi, President Ma Ying-jeou, President Xi Jinping and His Majesty King Tuheitia.

Prior to her service in the State Capitol, Tegarden was the coordinator for the Maui County Office of Economic Development and previously held the position of executive director of Big Brothers, Big Sisters Maui.
Deidre is a past president of the Rotary Club of Kahului, a Forty Under 40 recipient and a Weinberg Fellow. She speaks both Japanese and Chinese, which has helped her greatly in her work in Maui County and the State of Hawai‘i.

Tante’s is located at 100 West Ka’ahumanu Avenue.
