The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Ignacio, which formed in the East Pacific.

The storm is located 1,530 miles ESE of Hilo, Hawaiʻi and has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph with higher gusts.

The system was moving toward the west near 6 mph and was expected to gain some forward speed through Wednesday.

On Thursday, a turn toward the WNW is expected.

Additional strengthening is forecast over the next two days with Ignacio forecast to become a hurricane on Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
