It’s No Secret: Victoria’s Secret Official Announcement Today
By Wendy Osher
Management at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center has confirmed that their newest tenant will be national retailer, Victoria’s Secret, which is scheduled to open in 2016. While official word was withheld for some time, the construction of a Vitoria’s Secret retail store has not been much of a secret.
The retailer filed a nearly $1 million building permit to occupy space within the mall in mid-May. Since then construction space has been set up on the corner parcel in the spot previously occupied by Kay Jewelers between Sunglass Hut and Jamba Juice. The new store for women’s intimate apparel will be the first for the retailer on Maui, and the first on the neighbor islands.
The permit was filed right around the same time that a separate application was filed for a Bath & Body Works store at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center.
Both companies are specialty stores that are part of the L Brands international company, which also includes PINK, La Senza and Henri Bendel.
“Victoria’s Secret has, by far, been one of the most requested retailers by our community,” said Todd A. Vines, marketing manager for Queen Kaʻahumanu Center in a press release announcement this morning.
“We’re excited to welcome such a distinguished merchant to our family, and we’re proud that Victoria’s Secret chose Queen Kaʻahumanu Center for their home on Maui.”
