California man airlifted, Injured in 15-ft Fall at ʻĪao

A California visitor was airlifted from ʻĪao Valley State Park in Wailuku after suffering injuries in a 15-foot fall while hiking near the stream, fire officials said.
The incident was reported at 10:39 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015.
Maui Fire Services Officer Edward Taomoto said the 29-year-old man from Elk Grove, California fell from an embankment while hiking.
A HazMat crew arrived at 10:58 a.m. and treated the man for non-life-threatening injuries, then used the rescue helicopter to airlift him to the parking lot where paramedics were waiting.

The man was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.
