Oho is now a category 1 hurricane reaching the threshold of 75 mph maximum sustained winds as of the 5 a.m. CPHC update.

 

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center. Tropical storm force winds extend out up to 160 miles.

The system continues to track east-northeast near 13 mph and is expected to veer northeast later today and speed up.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect at this time. A hurricane warning is posted for all offshore waters.

 

Remnants of an old frontal boundary have been affecting Maui County overnight and into this morning. A northeast to southwest band of showers has been spreading showers and will keep drifting eastward today. For now, Oho associated showers are expected to focus over the Big Island today. Will keep an eye on it.
