Expansion of Maui Bus Service Discussed
The County of Maui Department of Transportation is seeking input on proposals to increase Maui Bus Service, as outlined in the draft Maui County Short-Range Transit Plan.
Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa notes that service to Waiheʻe is being considered as one area for possible route expansion.
A series of four community informational meetings gets underway today to discuss the fixed route and commuter service, and to present proposals to improve service and routes on Maui.
The Maui Bus has been in service since 2002. It currently provides over 2.5 million rides annually along 13 routes and operates between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 11 p.m.
All meetings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the following dates:
- Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 – Kīhei Community Center, 303 E. Līpoa Street
- Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 – West Maui Kaunoa Senior Center, 788 Pauoa Street, Lahaina
- Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 – Hannibal Tavares Community Center, Multi-Purpose Room, 91 Pukalani St
- Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 – Kahului Community Center, 275 Uhu Street
