Richard Holtzman to Serve as 2016 Charity Walk Chair
The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association has announced that Richard Holtzman, the vice president and managing director of Montage Kapalua Bay, will serve as the 2016 Maui County Charity Walk Chair.
“As the 2016 Charity Walk chairperson, I am honored to represent the residents of Maui County,” said Holtzman. “It is truly a privilege to lead the efforts for what is sure to be another successful year in Maui County in supporting hundreds of Maui County charities.”
In 2015, Maui County raised $863,268. In the last six years, Maui has raised more money than O‘ahu; Maui County has raised more dollars per capita since 1981.
Last year, Maui County’s 2,557 raised $863,268; O‘ahu’s 5,300 walkers raised $440,000; Hawai‘i Island’s 1,200 walkers raised $300,000; and Kaua‘i’s 2,220 walkers raised $230,000 for a grand total of 11,227 walkers raising $1,833,268 throughout the state.
The Charity Walk is one of the largest single-day fundraising events in Hawai‘i. Since the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association started hosting the event in 1980, Maui County has raised a cumulative total of $9.3 million, benefitting hundreds of nonprofit organizations on Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i.

Next year’s Visitor Industry Charity Walk is scheduled for May 7, on Molokai and Lāna‘i and May 14 on Maui.
