Naʻi Aupuni Releases List of 151 Participants in February ʻAha
The Naʻi Aupuni organization announced the names of 151 individuals who will take part in an upcoming Native Hawaiian Constitutional Convention or ‘aha, to discuss issues surrounding self-governance.
The individuals were among a list of nearly 200 who had sought 40 delegate positions; however, an election to determine delegates was terminated because of litigation that organizers say would have stalled the counting of the vote for years.
The group’s decision to proceed with the convention in February is also being challenged at the US Supreme Court.
Naʻi Aupuni representatives say they will oppose the motion and plan to continue to move forward with the gathering.
