Section 8 Housing Voucher Program Topic of Mayor’s TV Show, Jan. 6

The Housing Choice Voucher program, also known as Section 8, will be the topic of the upcoming edition of Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa’s community television show.

The show, entitles, “Your County with Mayor Arakawa,” will feature discussion on the program, which provides assistance to eligible low- and moderate-income families to rent housing in the private market.  Eligibility for the program is based on a family’s gross annual income and family size.

The show will discuss the benefits to landlords and how the Section 8 program and other programs help Maui county residents.

Joining Mayor Arakawa on the show will be Housing Choice Voucher Program Manager Kelci Wandell, Housing Specialist III Kim Nemoto, Eboni Prentice, and landlord Donna Ting.  The show will be moderated by Maui Managing Director Keith Regan.

The show airs live on Akaku Channel 55 on Wednesday, January 6 at 7 p.m.  It will re-air at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays from January 13-27 on the same channel.
