Armstrong Development has launched Kalama Kai in the heart of Kīhei, taking advantage of the 2015 amendment to the Maui County Affordable Housing ordinance that makes it more feasible for affordable projects to be built.
The 100 percent affordable condominium complex will be located 200 feet from the beach and will feature 39 three-bedroom units starting in the $300,000 price range and a single, one-bedroom unit below $300,000 (fee simple).
Workshops for potential Kalama Kai homebuyers will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 12 and 19, at the Walter J. Cameron Center in Wailuku from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The workshops will cover the benefits of homeownership and how to qualify and apply for the project.
Refreshments will be served. To RSVP, call (808) 872-2462.
Kalama Kai has been efficiently designed with durability and green building in mind. The three-bedroom units are approximately 800 square feet with two bathrooms, an open living-dining area and a lānai (approximately 100-square-feet). The one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit is 560 square feet.
Some of the units have ocean views.
Among the project’s amenities are landscaped grounds and a recreation area with a swimming pool, sundeck, barbecue area and poolside covered trellis pavilion. The trellis and several freestanding carports will also host an array of photovoltaic panels that have been incorporated into the project to offset common area energy costs.
The project’s broker is Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Advantage Realty Valley Isle. For more information, call (808) 872-2462 or visit KalamaKai.com.
