Nā Leo Kākoʻo O Maui, Inc. will host its 20th Annual Kula Kaiapuni Golf Tournament benefiting Kula Kaiapuni O Maui, Hawaiian Language Immersion School at The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course on Saturday, March 5, 2016.

The public is invited to make a difference in the future of our students by supporting the event.

Kula Kaiapuni O Maui focuses on the education of Maui’s future stewards—individuals who possess a strong sense of place, and a sense of self, that embodies Hawaiian language, thinking, and culture.

According to event organizer Kili Namauʻu, “by popular demand, we are pleased to announce the return of a 2-man scramble team play format this year.”

All registered golfers will be entered in a drawing for a Las Vegas trip for two that includes airfare and meals (must be present during announcement at banquet to win). On the course, golfers can vie for a chance at various prizes.

Play begins with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. The tournament fee is $120 per golfer. A luncheon and award ceremony will be held immediately following play.

Through various fundraisers throughout the year, the nonprofit organization provides students with Hawaiian language books, culturally enriched field trips, and other basic program needs.

The tournament is our major annual fundraiser and is supported by some 100 volunteers—mostly Kaiapuni families—who provide “in-kind” donations ranging from soliciting prizes for golfers, to marshalling on the course, to preparing the hall for the tournament banquet. More than fifty Maui businesses contributed to the event.
