A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for most Maui County channels and Māʻalaea Bay through 6 a.m. Friday. The advisory could be extended if conditions persist.

North: Wave heights are waist/shoulder high today with the best spots topping out at head high from time to time.

West: Wrap from the northwest swell affecting some western shores today. Spots with the exposure could get waist/shoulder high to up to head high waves.

South: Wave heights are pretty flat. Areas around Hana will catch some trade swell.

Screen Shot 2016-02-18 at 7.49.32 PMA small northwest swell is forecast to build Friday and will bring increasing surf to north and west facing shores. The swell will peak Saturday and fade Sunday.

A large northwest swell is expected to build late Sunday and peak on Monday, likely bringing warning level surf to north and west facing shores of most of the islands into Tuesday.

Another large northwest swell is due to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday next week.

Not much expected from the SPAC. Just background southern hemi surf expected.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
