Views into the gaping hole showed some exposed roots and concrete from a portion of the roadway had already dropped below the surface.

A patrol officer was on scene and was directing traffic around the sinkhole while county crews respond.

It is unclear at this point what caused the hole, but steady rains were reported in the area throughout the day.
