Q: I see all this repaving going on in Kahului. When is Baldwin Avenue in Pā‘ia going to be repaved? It’s horrible driving up and down this road, especially when it rains. You can’t see the potholes. All they do is patch it and when the next rain comes… it’s gone.

A: I’m pleased to report that we will be receiving federal funding for Baldwin Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Phase 2, which is a federal-aid project that will continue from the point where Phase 1 left off at Hali‘imaile Road down to Hāna Highway.

Pavement reconstruction will be done in designated areas with the majority of the roadway being resurfaced. Our Public Works engineers are currently finalizing the plans and environmental clearances, with construction expected to start during the latter part of this year.
