Moonlight Mele at Hale Ho‘ike‘ike on May 14
The Maui Historical Society and Hale Ho‘ike‘ike will present Moonlight Mele on Saturday, May 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., with performances by George Kahumoku Jr. and friends, members of the University of Hawai‘i Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music and The Brown ‘Ohana.
This one-night event will feature a beer and wine garden, shoyu chicken plates with cupcakes by Na Makuahine O ‘Ekalesia Kupaianaha, concessions, private tours of the Bailey House Museum, a special exhibition by the Maui Historical Society and more.
Hawai‘i Renaissance Man Kahumoku is a multiple Grammy and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winning master slack key guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, performer, teacher, artist, sculptor, storyteller, writer, farmer and entrepreneur.
Kahumoku is also an instructor at IHM, which mentors and trains aspiring musicians in performing, singing, composition, repertoire development, recording techniques and marketing of Hawaiian music.
Tickets are $5. Keiki ages 12 and under are admitted at no charge.
