Maui Electric Aerial Line Inspections for Lāna‘i, Moloka‘i on May 16

A large tree brought down electrical lines and damaged a pole on a ridge in Keanae cutting power to about 100 customers in Keanae and Nahiku. The remote area is only accessible by helicopter and Maui Electric crews are currently on the scene. Maui Electric Company will use a helicopter to perform routine power line inspections on Lāna‘i and Moloka‘i on Monday, May 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., weather permitting.

Dates and locations are subject to change due to weather. Routine aerial inspections of Maui Electric’s equipment, including electrical lines, poles and substations, are necessary to maintain stable and reliable electrical service for the Maui County community.
