Night at the Aquarium Offers New MOC ExperienceMay 31, 2016, 3:23 PM HST · Updated June 1, 6:44 AM 0 Comments
Maui Ocean Center will soon offer a new aquarium experience for the award-winning marine park.
Night at the Aquarium invites guests to explore MOC’s exhibits as day transitions into night.
The new evening experience will feature live entertainment, marine presentations and activities, with Seascape Mā‘alaea Restaurant open for dinner from 5 to 8 p.m.
Night at the Aquarium will take place every Saturday, June through August, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The aquarium experience changes drastically as the sun sets behind the West Maui Mountains. Nocturnal marine creatures that are typically dormant or hidden during daylight hours springs to life at night.
Throughout the evening, guests can explore MOC’s exhibits—from the interactive tide pool to the 750,000-gallon Open Ocean exhibit.
Marine-friendly flashlights will be available for guests to explore The Living Reef’s Nocturnal Zone, where a portion of the exhibits will have dimmed lighting, providing guests with an authentic encounter with Hawai‘i’s nocturnal marine animals.
Marine naturalists will share their knowledge and point out interesting nighttime behavior.
Other marine presentations include a Turtle-rrific Station, Reef Explorer, and an Open Ocean Exhibit dive presentation among sharks, rays and large reef fish.
Two complimentary beverages from a selection of beer, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages from the Reef Café are included with Night at the Aquarium admission.
A no-host bar and pūpū will be available to purchase.
Live entertainment, shopping at Maui Ocean Treasures and a photo booth will be available throughout the evening.
The aquarium’s Seascape Mā‘alaea Restaurant will also be open for dinner, serving an entirely new menu utilizing locally sourced mauka to makai ingredients.
Night at the Aquarium admission is $49 for the general public, $34 for Hawai‘i residents and US military personnel with valid ID, and $19 for aquarium members (prices do not include tax).
Tickets will be available on MOC’s website or at the front entrance.
Seascape Mā‘alaea Restaurant will be open at 5 p.m. with final seating at 8 p.m.; dinner is not included in the aquarium admission price. Download the menu.
