Capobianco Murder Trial: Day 7 Cut Short
Day seven of the Steven Capobianco murder trial was recessed after a few hours yesterday due to a “discovery issue.”
Lead Detective Wendell Loo was still being cross-examined by the defense when Jon Apo, Capobianco’s attorney, asked a question pertaining to a particular witness—Matthew McCormick.
Loo interviewed McCormick after he had interviewed Charli Scott’s two sisters and mother in February 2014.
Apo asked Loo if McCormick was a possible accomplice in the crime and asked who he was an accomplice to.
Loo replied, “We were looking at Mr. Capobianco, yes, sir.”
Apo asked if the interview with McCormick was about Capobianco, to which Loo agreed.
Apo then asked, “And whether Matthew McCormick was an accomplice in any potential crime?”
Loo replied, “Yes, sir. Well, I don’t know.”
When Apo asked Loo if he read McCormick his Miranda Rights, Loo replied, “Yes, sir, we must have.”
A recess was then called and the trial ended for the day.
The trial is to resume again on Monday.
