Due to an electrical power outage since approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday night (Nov. 24, 2016), the Department of Water Supply’s pumps which supply water to the Honokōhau Valley, Nāpili and Honokōwai areas are not operating.

Maui Electric Company is working on restoring power and estimates that power will be restored at about 5 p.m. today (Friday, Nov. 25, 2016).  After electricity has been restored, the Department will restart its pumping operation to refill water tanks to desired levels.  This may take between 18 to 24 hours to refill the tanks.

As a result, the Department is asking all water consumers in Honokōhau Valley, Nāpili and Honokōwai to immediately take measures to conserve water until 6:00 pm Saturday, November 26, and to avoid any unnecessary water use.
