Suspect Sought in Kīhei Condo Invasion and Credit Card Theft

The Maui Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a male who allegedly broke into a Kīhei condominium unit and stole items of value including credit cards.

Maui Crime Stoppers reports that the unknown offender broke into the unit between midnight and 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, while the occupants were asleep inside.

Authorities say the offender cut the screen of an opened jalousie window and unlocked the door, making entry into the occupied unit.

According to Crime Stopper reports, the individual stole wallets from inside and left the condo complex without being detected.

Authorities say that on the same day, offender attempted to use one of the stolen credit cards multiple times at two different ATM machines nearby.  According to department reports, the male suspect utilized clothing to conceal his face and wore gloves on both hands during the ATM attempts.

The suspect is described as being very thin with bony, broad shoulders.  His is approximately 5’6″ to 5’7″ tall and has fair skin.  He was also wearing a dark gray long sleeved shirt and dark colored BDU military type long pants with dark colored Converse type low-cut shoes with white laces.
