Large NNE Continues Today, Eases in Afternoon

High Surf Warning: North and east shores of Molokai and Maui through 6 a.m. Thursday.
High Surf Advisory : West shore of Maui through 6 a.m. Thursday.
Small Craft Advisory: All waters and channels through 6 p.m. Thursday.
Marine Weather Statement: A large north-northeast swell will continue to impact Kahului harbor with moderate harbor surges and large breaking waves at the harbor entrance. Mariners should use extreme caution when entering or leaving port and when mooring or launching vessels.

Maui Surf Forecast
North: Most spots will be completely maxed out today with double to triple overhead surf expected in the morning. Deep water breaks like Pe’ahi (Jaws) could get even bigger than that up to 18 to 20 foot faces.
West: Surf is ankle/knee high today. Spots catching some of the west-northwest wrap will be bigger up to should high or even overhead.
South: Surf is ankle/knee high today. The best spots catching the wrap could get bigger.
Our current large north-northeast swell remains solid through Thursday before fading through the second half of the work week. The secondary northwest swell peaks Thursday morning as well but might not be noticeable over the large north-northeast. A larger west-northwest is forecast for Saturday. Another round of surf is expected to fill in Monday, peak Tuesday and ease Wednesday with a smaller northwest on tap for the 11th.
Nothing significant expected out of the South Pacific any time soon.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
