Inaugural Hawaiʻi Tattoo Expo on Maui, April 7-9
The P.I.A.E GROUP, LLC, also known as PIAE MAUI presents the 1st Inaugural “HAWAII TATTOO EXPO” on Maui, April 7-9, 2017 at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Event hours are Friday, 2 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Maui Expo brings together artists and vendors worldwide, from Maui to Oʻahu, the mainland and from as far away as Thailand, Canada and Australia.
The ʻOhana-friendly Maui Expo invites and welcomes spectators of every age, all of whom are welcome to take in the many attractions, vendors and the best tattoo artists from Hawai’i, the mainland and around the world, all showcasing LIVE tattooing under one roof and in one place.
PIAE MAUI also boasts a celebrity artist line-up. Scheduled to appear and tattoo live in house will be (subject to change) BIG GUS from the hit SPIKE show, Tattoo Nightmares, and SKETCHY LAWYER of Ink Master Season 8, Desmond Kaleolani Alexander of Maui Ink & Art Collective, Native Flesh Tattoo of Hilo, 808 Tattoo of Kaneʻohe, Sacred Art Tattoo Waikiki and tons of other artist and vendor booths.
From a historic and cultural aspect, PIAE MAUI proudly features and pays special tribute to practitioners who perpetuate the ancient tapping art form of tattoo from the Hawaiian Islands and beyond.
Local kakau legends like Suluʻape Keone Nunes and Keliʻiokalani Makua, both of whom have been to the Oʻahu Expo since the beginning, not to mention tatau Maui artist, Samson Harp of Pacific Rootz Tattoo, Kīhei and many guest artists from Thailand, Australia, Canada and of course the USA will be here.
There will be information on safety and tattoo after care as well.
The stage(s) will have a non‐stop lineup of local musical groups, tattoo contests, cultural dancers, along with raffle and prize give-a-ways. Ekolu, Maoli, The Vitals, PeniDean, Mike Love, Mahkess, Bruddah Waltah and Kanekoa are scheduled (subject to change) to perform throughout the weekend.
There’s also food vendors and several snack, shave ice and drink vendors to choose from. The ‘Ohana friendly event also features a special dedicated kid’s area, the Keiki Zone.
The goal at PIAE MAUI is to promote Aloha, Art, Culture, Respect, Education and Safety.
